edgeFLEX at the ENLIT 2022 in Frankfurt

For two and a half days, the edgeFLEX consortium presented the latest project findings and used the chance for knowledge exchange with other EU funded projects at the EU Project Zone at Enlit’s 2022 edition in Frankfurt.

After a COVID-19 break in 2020, and a not as highly visited fair as before the pandemic in 2021, the 2022 edition made a comeback with a much higher number of visitors. Enlit Europe brought together energy professionals from around the world to collaborate on and discuss the most pressing issues in the energy system. As part of the event, different European projects working towards a low carbon economy introduced themselves to visitors. edgeFLEX was presented at the EU Projects Zone along with over 40 other European projects accelerating the energy transition.

edgeFLEX and the Flex Community

02.02.2022 02:02pm
is a date not easily forgotten! More than 150 participants were present today when we pushed the button & launched the FlexCommunity. Spanning from research to industry and regulation, from international to transnational and national: the FlexCommunity unites all stakeholders working on enabling the large-scale use of flexibilites in the energy system. Before we had an insightful panel discussion on the relation of Plato, Socrates & the energy transition, Achille H. from the European Commission gave an inspiring welcome address, highligthing the importance of the FlexCommunity. In 4 parallel sessions key topics & goals for the FlexCommunity were vividly discussed. Thank you to everyone who made this happen and participated today!

edgeFLEX at the ENLIT 2021 in Milano

edgeFLEX both

edgeFLEX participated in the virtual 2021 IEEE Smart Grid for Smart Cities (SG4SC) conference.

edgeFLEX both

17.03.2021

Since all face-to-face events are suspended, SG4SC chose an innovative approach to try and make up for the missing networking and dissemination opportunities. Besides the main programme with several tech sessions on current topics in the smart grid area, the event featured an online venue where projects funded by the European Commission could present themselves. The edgeFLEX booth was open from 17-23 March 2021 in good neighbourhood to several other H2020 projects like Platone, FEVER, Asset and Interconnect. The virtual project zone was organised as a separate space with booths adapted to the projects’ corporate identities featuring information material such as presentations, graphics, videos, social media channels etc. Visitors with remaining questions had the possibility to contact consortium members of the different projects for a live chat or video call during the conference.

Within the main programme, edgeFLEX coordinator Fiona Williams from Ericsson gave a key note on the role of 5G in future energy systems and consortium partner CRE organised a tech session on the role of regulation in the smart grid area, both giving insights from the project.

The IEEE gathers experts from the energy, telecommunications, and computing sectors to address transformation challenges and opportunities. Worldwide, the convergence of data and energy infrastructures is used to enable a better life for the citizens in smart cities. Smart grids show to be a real enabler of such cities, by integrating a high penetration of renewable energy, facilitating electric transport, allowing smart buildings and increasing the involvement of the end-user in the energy scene. Altogether creating a sustainable lifestyle for the eco-aware 21st century citizen.

The main organiser of the event was the Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems of our edgeFLEX consortium member RWTH Aachen University.
